In my first installment, I talked about my surprise find that food prices in Tokyo in general is not expensive vis-a-vis downtown Singapore. In this second and final installment, I have a few more to add.

A neighbourhood 24 Hours convenient store. This isn’t McDonalds or Starbucks but is 24 Hours operating. Wow!

|
Now this is another 24 Hours office - Post Office. Citi Never Sleeps? Well Shinjuku too.

Japan is just behind USA as largest consumer music market. So BIG in Japan is really something. I do not play any musical instruments but you can feel the music scene here just by looking from the outside - the buzz, the culture, one immerse market. Happening!

Not fakes or mock up but actual used guitars hanging outside the streets! That is first world for you. More guitars at the second level.

Another guitar shop along the same street.

and another and ... all adjacent and just steps from one another. Massive selection, massive market. Lasting temptation for any hobbyist or musicians.

I was browsing at this huge electronics departmental store in Tokyo ala Harvey Norman or Best Denki but just few times bigger. Besides all the USB enabled, Blu-ray, MP4, digital latest and greatest gadgets, low and behold - vinyl playback! It’s not one or two turntables but heaps of them. Whether for DJ, vinyl transfer or causal listeners, vinyl playback never go away - not in Tokyo Japan certainly.

Some starters and all-in-one Integrated of integrates LP playback. Hmm... vinyl playback in mass market. Another Tokyo surprise for me.

This photo did injustice to the fine wood veneer looking finish of this Denon machine. Listed at about S$255, just don’t ask for it at our Safe Superstore :-)
Long Live Vinyl !!
